Hajduszoboszlo, May 8, 2024 – A great start for Team corratec – Vini Fantini, which takes third place with Jakub Mareczko in the first stage of the Tour de Hongrie.

The stage, covering 166 km from Karcag to Hajduszoboszlo and characterized by a relatively gentle altitude profile, saw riders maintain a steady pace until the final kilometers, when the day’s breakaway was neutralized. From that moment, the pace in the peloton increased, accompanied by heightened stress, culminating in a significant crash just a few hundred meters from the finish line. However, Mareczko, fresh from his victory at the Trofeo del Porto last Sunday, demonstrated skill and agility in staying at the front positions, avoiding the crash and sprinting towards this deserved podium, which fuels hopes for the upcoming stages.

“I’m happy with today’s result – declared Jakub Mareczko immediately after the finish – It was a very complicated final. Once the breakaway was caught, the pace picked up significantly, and so did the nervousness. A few hundred meters from the finish, the situation became chaotic, and indeed, there was a major crash. Fortunately, in the last kilometers, I managed to secure a great position in the group, so once the sprint started, I got off to a good start and was able to achieve this good result.”
